Architectural Abstracts

As an individual without history and foundation, incessant relocation exposed me to a transient lifestyle. This system of parts is unearthed and excavated to reveal the substrata of the past through place. Photographing my surroundings, the communities and architecture around me contributes to the acquaintance of each location and subdues the sensation of alienation; fulfilling a need of the essential self. As before, subjects photographed symbolize and verify my presence, brief, as it may be, that I exist and was a part of this milieu. Architectural Abstracts was photographed in Denver from a personal and aesthetic point of view. The subject matter, although portraying pristine facades, at times felt cold and lacked character, others familiar and friendly. Examining these details, then abstracting their full meaning by selecting portions to emphasize the significance of the whole linked me to remembrance of the past.
